The Trust is seeking to appoint a Secretary as a self-employed consultant for one year.

Lipman Miliband Trust is a registered charity providing small grants in the broad area of socialist education projects.

The consultant secretary’s hours will be flexible in relation to the uneven nature of the workload but the consultant must be available to attend up to four Trust meetings in London during the 12 months of the contract. The contract will allow for a maximum payment of £6000 based on an hourly rate of £12.00 and 500 hours.

The main duties include:

  • Administering the grant awarding process, the Trust’s Dropbox account and its website
  • Administering the preparation, the agenda and the recording of Trust meetings
  • Working with the Treasurer in making payments and administering financial transactions
  • Supporting the work of the Trustees in areas such as the Trust’s reporting requirements and legal responsibilities

There is no formal application form but applicants should send an email clearly titled ‘consultant secretary’ with an attachment in MS Word giving their full name and contact details, educational qualifications, a resume or CV of no more than 500 words and the names and contact details of two referees. Interviews will take place with representative Trustees in September and mentoring will be available on appointment.

The closing date for applications is 31.08.18 and the consultant secretary will be expected to begin the contract no later than 1.10.18. The first Trust meeting they will be required to attend is 1.11.18. All Trust meetings commence at 18.00.
